You can tell on the clutch dog by looking at the midsection casting. From the rear of the engine with your head immediately above the protrusion of the mid section as it goes back over the prop and just above where the midsection and the LU mate, is a little flat place in the casting about half an inch square. If the mark is square it's a 3 pin/socket dog for R gear. If it has a 45 degree right triangle geometry it has the 6 pin/socket. From an operator's stand point you probably won't notice the difference unless you do a lot of sloppy shifting into R. 6 doubles the surfaces to wear off the corners and kick out of gear.
On linkage, I guess Faztbullet is talking about within the engine; not as it adapts to the remotes. The Commander 2000 and 3000 remotes should mount right up if your electrical connector is the same 8 pin circular connector.
