As for engines? Get one that was put together as designed and you will love it. All the makes are good now. Do some have sloppy engines more than once in a while? That is what we are really talking about.

For whatever it is worth, I have owned Honda automobiles for years. They are very reliable and dependable. They will not nickle and dime you to tears as with others. You must do their recommended maintenance however to enjoy this kind of service. It is worth it though. Our Honda dealer ship is also first rat.

ok, so I meant rate. My wife yelled at me that supper was ready. A word of advice, Honda engines are interference engines, if the timing belt breaks you could have some serious upper end damage. Change your timing belts as recommended by Honda. I would imagine the outboards are similiar.

I have owned 2 stroke Mercs, and OMC. My last 2 motors have been Honda's and I am a believer. Great fuel economy, very quiet, and so far have been reliable.

I work for the Navy and am starting to see more Honda's on their boats here. Most of the Coast Guard boats have them too. I spoke to a naval officer about why they chose Honda's to replace the older Johnsons on many of their patrol and dive boats. He said that although they are expensive they are buying them because they are reliable.

When J.D. Powers says something is "best in initial quality", does that mean that there's less stuff broken on it when you first bring it home? Makes me think of my old '75 Harley...what a complete piece of junk...but I still have it and still love it.

Keep in mind that J.D. Powers only rates those brands who pay it to do the survey...Two brands paid...They both tied...What's the odds of that happening?
