Thought I'd throw this out and see if anyone else has seen it. While rebuilding the carbs. on a 1989 Johnson 100 (J100STLCEM) I found the upper carb had 2 different size idle bleed air orifices installed. The Lt. throat of upper carb. has a #38 & the Rt. has a #20. The lwr carb. has #38 in both sides. I cant say that I've noticed any real idle problems. I only ran it about an hour since I've owned it. Not the first time the carbs. have been opened either.(Previous owner?)I'm not against ordering another orifice when I buy my kits just not sure if they should all be the same size. The manual just says to note the size when you remove them.

Re: Interesting find during carb. rebuild

I have a1988 48 johnson that I have been having idle issues with, when I took the carbs apart to rebuild them I noticed the top carb had a #33 and the lower had a#34, the book calls for a #36. Haven't put the carbs back on yet so I don't know if this was the cause of my problems.

Think it would have anything to do with elevation??Sea level to where I am in Mn at 1177 ft above sea level? In the 70s I lived in Colo and the motors had to be fitted for high elevations.

The parts list has #3 as a 26, #7 as a 38, and #13's as a 60.

1177' MSL is not enough to cause rejetting.
