Interesting state towing laws thread

Hey I just looked at the thread of towing laws listed and was wondering when that list came out and why it makes no sense.

Case in point- it lists Florida saying trailers can be up to 40' long. My brother's Velocity is 41' long so the trailer has to be at least 45'. Nortech in Sarasota only makes boats from the 39' to 50' range and there all trailer boats. Cigarette in Miami makes boats 38' to 50' again trailer boats.

These boats get trailered all over the country to poker runs.

I think it said Louisana was 30' max trailer????

Those could be the max length of trailer that can be towed without some permits or special license. Just a thought

without permit or license. the main thing is proper towing equipment, to fit the trailer. you have to admit there are few cigarette boats trailered compared to the standard boat, and the majority are on flat bedtrailers, pulled by a tractor.

In addition to trailer length limits there are also vehicle length limits (tractor and trailer(s)).

Yeah I kind of don't know..

I've towed my brother's 41' without even thinking about a permit. New Smyrna code enforcement did get on him cause they limit you to 35' boat and trailer to park it in your yard.

Yeah if you add on the average poker run boats tow rig a crew cab dually your over the max vehicle length.

Louisana max boat and trailer 30'???? that's a 26' foot boat with outdrives on a trailer.

Anybody know when/where that list came out?

They have been cracking down on that kind of stuff around here recently.

NC and Va. are aggressively ticketing guys for both over length (CDL required) and overweight (trucks, including pick-ups are weight registered) tows.

Lots of guys on the SKC got rude introductions to the local regulations.
