NHRA is trying to slow down the top fuelers limits the % of nitro and slick sizes. But the top teams keep on pushing the ETs and MPH down!

A lot of the current level of performance is in the prep of the track. HP does you no good without traction.

I took a bud to see qualifying at the Southern Nats at Commerce GA. I told him to bring foam ear plugs AND muffs. As we were watching PS all we were using was the foam plugs. As the first pair of funny cars were backing up from the burnout I reminded John to put on his muffs. "Nah, plugs are all I need ". Ok. I told my wife to watch John instead of the first pair.

BOOOOOOM, they launch. Zoom go John's hands up to his ears. "Hey John" I say, "thought the plugs were enough". John replies, " I thought the plugs were going to be blown out of my ears !!! " His muffs were on after that :p

Sounded a LOT MEANER when they were running 98% Nitro a few years back......down to 85% now, and I go every year to the "Nats". All Harley Drags (still a boatload of Nitro in the TF class) this weekend in Seattle. No chute, no cage, no belts
.........just balls!

one of their cost saving things here (it would only be drop in the ocean, but I guess every dollar counts) is to sell the used pistons after every run, $500 dolars for a complete piston, and nearly $1000 for one that has melted through. I just love watching them rebuild a complete motor after each run. Those guys are fast!
