So I am going to look at another boat tonight. Its an 87 sea ray 18' with the merc 4cyl i/o. The floors were redone last year but the seats are cracked and ripped. He is asking $2500 for the boat, I am hoping to get it for 2k (depending on water test). I was wondering what it usually costs to reupholster seats? I can get all new seat for around $550.

here's a pic of my boat. i checked out the exact same boat as mine in red before i bought mine and it needed an interior. i was quoted about a grand for a solid color. two and three tone started getting a lot more. this included covering the side rails as well as all the seats

You may want to consider new replacement over reupholstered if you haven,t done so already. Materials ,stitching and overall construction has improved greatly over the years, composites and hard plastics have replaced a lot wood materials so long term durability is something to consider where cost is a concern. This would also be a good time to consider overall design changes for comfort and ergonomics. When I changed my 77 Thompson Sidewinder,Ilooked at all the faults and dislikes I had and made some major changes for comfort and function. Turned out great, later sold to co-worker and still looks brand new. Good luck & Happy boating.
