Howdy folks.
Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself before I start asking stupid questions.
My name is James and I have recently acquired the first boat Ive ever owned. Its a 1987 Dixie Super Skier 199 with a Merc 350 I/O with an OMC Cobra outdrive.
It was given to a co-worker as an incompleted restoration project, and he soon realized that he didnt have the time to work on it. As a car guy, I was talking to him about not having a toy project anymore since I sold my car. Then after a few days, he said he had a boat that needed work, but just wanted it out of his yard and offered to give it to me, no charge. I just had to pick it up.
I was kind of leary about getting a boat. Ive never owned one, never worked on one, and didnt know what to expect. Well, he was right, it did need a lot of work. It had been stripped down and repainted with a 2-part poly and it was done poorly, but still doesnt look that bad. There is an entire laundry list of things to do before she's ready to get back on the water. This is where Im hoping to lean on the folks here for information and help.
Ive spent the last few weekends working on it, and its finally starting to look like a boat again, and not just a hull. After putting so much time into it, Im getting beyond excited to see it through to completion and getting it on the water.
I'll try to get some pix posted sooner or later.
See y'all around!
