iPod nono not showing up on PC...

My wife just bought a nano the other day and can't seem to get the thing to show up on her Dell. When we plug it in, the little USB icon comes on in the bottom right of the screen but nothing happens. A check of the system sez that it can't find the driver??? (the nano comes with one that's installed when it's first connected) This is not the first time that this box of dirt has had problems with devices that should not need drivers.

I tried switching ports with no effect. Is there something somewhere that I need to enable or disable? Thanks!
