Is 40hp enough for KW 1520?

Seems the recommended is 50-70. Ive seen two viables with 40's. Will that plane with authority?

Max is 80 hp. I don't think that you'll get much authority with a 40, but it will plane with the right prop. The chart says it went 34 mph with a 50hp on it.

Back in the '60's, the OMC twin cyl. 40 would run a reasonably light FG 14-15' semi-V 27-30 mph with 2 folks and gear. Used fr-in-laws on several occasions. 25-27 mph is a nice respectable cruising speed and fast enough to enjoy being out on the water.
