It is what i use when replacing through hull drains and fittings. It has never failed me. If it is something you will need to remove later down the road use 3M 4200 instead.

On the back side of the fitting there should be a "sealant" groove. Fill the groove with a 1/8" - 3/16" diameter beam of sealant. Should be more than enough.

Agree- since the fitting is brass.

Just want to stress the point for other readers, that brass, bronze and stainless fittings will generally outlast the boat, so 5200 is appropriate. Chances are pretty slim that you'd ever need to replace those fittings.

If you're rebedding plastic/nylon/abs, however, use something less permanent. Better yet, replace them with metal, THEN seal 'em with 5200..

Bronze is better than brass, and stainless is the best. I suggest you use stainless fittings, especially seeing as you are in Florida, and are probably boating in the salt. The brass fittings on my boat have turned green over time and leave green stains on the gel. The stainless through-hull fittings are still shiny.

Thanks for the help, the fitting does have a groove, as far as it turning colors, unless I am scuba diving I will not see it since its on the bottom of the boat
