Is a Parsun F9.8 a good motor?

I've been suggested by my seller to buy a Parson F9.8 for 1800 euro to low a bit the price of the boat: Parsun

Is it a reliable motor? Is it far away in terms of quality from most famous brands such as Yamaha or Honda?

Parsun are Chineese made, not comparable in terms of duration and parts quality over Japanese brands same HP engines. Merc 8-9.9 are disguissed Tohatsu same HP engines with slight modifications. Ideal for your boating canal application would be a 9.8 HP. Check Tohatsu dealer direct, should be betterd priced than Merc. BTW, 9.8 has nothing to do with a 9.9 HP, are different CC engines.
