Is circuit breaker needed when hooking up O/B with electric start?

Hello, I have a 1985 Evinrude 9.9 outboard, with electric start. I now have the cables for the electric start hooked up directly to my #1 battery. Should I have an in-line circuit breaker or fuse, and if so, what kind? Should the electric start be hooked up to my #1 or my #2 (deep cycle) battery?

Thanks,
Pete
pete@telus.net

Peter,

You can hook it up to either battery. If the 9.9 also has the alternator kit, it would be nice to keep your deep cycle in top charge state.

You do not need a circuit breaker.
