Is getting almost an instant cooling water discharged (30-sec) indicating my thermostat is bad or is that a bypass working? I feel the instant water is causing my 1970 35 HP Chrysler to not idle well in cool weather (which caused me to test the working stat to see if it was in the sys). This causes constant starts and coughs in my opinion. The coughs appear to be causing a low Eng knock that goes away with the cough. I might hear the low knock if I idle too hard in a barrel when I bring it down.
Is there an easy way to see the connector rod to crank connection? Such as, on my chainsaw I can see and feel the connection by removing the Carb (which looks too deep on this eng).
Otherwise, how can I improve the cold water idling that is only a problem until it warms vs setting the idle too high? Thanks In Advance! jow
