is it cheaper in the usa ?

hi all . i am thinking of going across the border into the usa . and buying a used motor over there . does anybody know if they are cheaper over there than here ? i looked at a used 1978 merc 130 horsepower here and they want 2000.00 dollars here . seems a little steep to me . i live across the st. clair river from algonac michigan . this 120 johnson is going swimming . anybody no any dealers there ? i will be there in 10 minutes ... thanks .

have you looked at the engine section of boat trader or ebay,i would think its all about the person you buy it from,also,someareas have salt water used engines,like here in florida,i would take a freshwater low use eng long before a newer saltwater used eng if possible,engines in south usa get alot more use as well,so its a choice about the perticular item,its sellers price and what you want to spend,ive seen newer engines forcheap prices,but they were run by charter boats in salt water
