I don't use the truck after a boating trip. Am curious if I can leave the trailer with boat hook up to the truck. Will it damage the truck's shock since its being compressed down? Thanks.

I leave my 23 footer hooked up to my truck all the time. Granted its a 3/4 ton Diesel but you should have no ill effects. The tow with it is much more severe. By the way, what is it hooked up to?

That's no worse than a fat sister in law sitting on the tailgate. Ain't pretty, but as long as she's comfy, no harm done.

Hilarious !!!:D

I personally don't see an issue unless tongue weight is astronomical

If your worried about suspension etc. You can always use the jack on the trailer to hold the tounge weight while its still connected to the truck. Just put something on the dash or on your key to remind you to check the jack before you take off.

If the truck is rarely used I might be concerned about flat spots on the tires from the extra weight. But that's more of a long term worry. If the rig is used regularly just have fun. (i would not leave it hooked up but only because I am paranoid)

I would worry more about water collecting in the hull rather than if it would hurt the truck.
If it were stored outside. I would just take the tongue off the ball and Jack it up so water could run out the drain.

I personally would not, flat spots on the tires, easier for someone to walk up and drive off with your investments, ect. I'd just undo it, maybe pull the truck a foot or two forward and leave it. what's the extra 5 minutes to hook up the trailer gonna hurt? just the way I see it.

I've got a rather weak tow vehicle that I leave connected all the time with no problems. I live in a fairly safe area but if I didn't I would be most concerned about the ease of someone taking off with two toys as opposed to just one.

Remember, your only dealing with tongue weight. A fuel tank of gas probably weighs more.

Flat spots are bias ply tire issues. Who runs bias ply tires on a vehicle anymore?

I leave my 25' Crownline attached to my Dodge 3500 all the time, doesn't harm a thing.

Also for those worried about tongue weight causing flat spots on the tires of ur 1500 pickup.... Mom's z-71 4x4 weighs about 4500 lbs total..... my truck weighs closer to 10,000 and 4700 of that is on the front two tires..... they don't get flat spots even if the trucks sets for over a month

just a specific point, but shocks don't care what position they are in. Shocks only resist movement, they don't provide any 'push'. Your springs on the other hand, if anything is affected that is what it would be. (I'm talking shocks only, gas charged struts are a different story)

Anytime I've left things attached and knew it was going to be that way for a few days I just put the tongue jack down and gave it a few extra cranks.

That's what I started doing.
