Re: Is Locktite Compatible With Nylock Nuts?
Been building nitro powered R/C cars, boats and trucks for years. You'd never find anything that vibrated more or ran a harder life than a 2-stroke nitromethane R/C truck. INSANE vibrations to say the very least.
Nylock nuts go on w/out Locktite. If you need to remove a part, you use the blue locktite. To set them permanently, use the red locktite. Check the labels -- I always do in case I have it reversed. I've use locktite on simple screws that screw into nylon parts by accident. Well, that was a mistake -- the nylon was weakened. Don't do it.
Locktite is for metal to metal applications. Use the one that can be removed. Ain't nothing on my Scarab that vibrates like my R/C nitro engines. Nylon parts and nuts always hold up. Where metal meets metal, use the right locktite type product.
