is my 55hp running to cold?

Hey guys, quick question. I've been running this 1969 55hp on the river for the last 5 weeks or so. I seem to be losing a cylender or even 2 when at WOT. Even when it's idling at home on muffs I'll pull the plugs and 1 2 and 3 all have oil and fuel on them, but as soon as the engine runs for about 10 or 15 minutes it sounds like it drops number 2 and 3. So I pull the plugs one by one. The top plug is is black and the other two look ok. I can put my hand on the top of the engine and it doesn't burn me at all, it just feels warm. SO.. does that mean I'm running to cold if the plugs aren't burning off the black "carbon"? Thanks again, any suggestions will help.

I believe on your motor the coils are grounded with a wire. Take all 3 loose and clean the wire connector and the bolt that grounds each coil.

I have the same engine and the same problem when idleing on muffs engine does not get warm at all I was told here on iboats that a lot of engines run cold on muffs because of the water temp and the fact that the water is being forced into the motor. As far as droping cylinders if you have a manual it will tell you how to test your coil and amplifier, your problem could lie there. Do a spark test by getting a spark testor from your local auto parts about $8.00 you should be getting at least a one quarter inch sharp blue spark off of each cylinger. good luck
