Re: is my boat just slow

because of your update, i'm going to try the same thing, i never even thought to remove the fins but more research leads me to believe they are better suited to outboard motors and not I/O's.

if i could get 4 mph and 200 rpm that would put me right at my engine's sweet spot and 53mph. i'm excited to try it!

Post back and let me know how it worked for you, as far as my boat I had a lot of prop slip until I removed the fins

Re: is my boat just slow

unfortunately i didn't get to go full out with just me on the boat. hole shot wasn't better or worse but i was able to achieve 48mph with 7 people and 65 gals of gas. with 7 people before it would go 45mph trimmed out.

i think i'm going to try the smart tabs to help reduce bow lift and improve hole shot. i'm stingy and i really don't want to sacrifice top end by going with a lower pitch. before i settle on a lower pitched prop i want to see what my current one does with smart tabs.

anybody else reading this want to give their input on smart tabs?

I do think smart tabs can make an excellent overall improvement and it has been shown that they can improve speed,
And reduce no wake speed wander.
The key is figuring the right size and apply them conservatively.
Any tabs applied too agressively can waste fuel cause poor handling and slow the boat.
