Is my engine 2003 or 2004? E-tec 50hp DPL

The date on the back of the engine says 11/03, but was told it is an 04 and there isnt an 03 operator manual or service manual for the 40/50/60.

Is the date of manufacture different to what is considered its date for service manuals or sale etc?

Thank you, I was told it was a 2004, but I saw the dates of 2003 on the back and thought, that is odd....
