Is Seacast a good fix?

posted September 13, 2004 06:42 PM <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br />I have a 1984 25 foot Mark twain 350 with a 260 Mercruiser and have just found out the reason my coupler has been failing is due to a weak transom, already got a couple of suggestions, but I am just looking for all my options on how to go about fixing the transom. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, Thanks I have heard seacast is the way to go but just wondering if anyone out here has experienced using it and what there thoughts on it were.

I did my transom with Seacast this summer very strong,Not hard to do follow the instruction,you can get a CD from them,my boats a 17' MFG Edinboro outboard .

I wanted to use seacast for my transom, but had to remove the inside fiberglass to remove the rotten wood. Once all that was out 90% of the work was done so just went with marine 3/4 inch plywood, and soak the heck out of it with cpes. 76 searay 200.

Franki's right, I heard a few on here mention it and checked out there wedsite. With the amount of work I have done to remove the old wood, more like mulch, and all of the resin that was holding it down I simply do not want to do it again. I don't know if it will work any better then plain old epoxy, but I figured I'll give it a try.<br />Good luck with your transom.
