Is there a trim down limit?

Did the bellows, lower shift cable etc. Adjusted the trim limit switch and there only seems to be a limit for up. Is this correct? When I trim it down, the drive stops, but the trim motor is still running. As I recall (I could be wrong), the trim motor should have a distinct sound when the drive has gotten in it's fully down position. A higher pitch so as to let you know when to stop pushing the button. Am I correct or am I having another "senior moment"?

The pump may not have that much of a change in sound.

No limit down from an electrical standpoint, only the mechanical stop of the trim cylinders being fully retracted .

Does the trim gauge work? That can be your guide to full down on the trim.

Yes the trim gauge does work and I adjusted it perfectly where I can see when the drive is fully down. So, I'll just go by the trim gauge. I just thought I remember the pitch changing on the trim motor. No big deal

The full UP and DOWN Trims are mechanically limited.
When the Trim Cylinders reach their mechanical limits, the hydraulic fluid is bypass through pressure limit valves.
The UP Bypass Pressure Limit Valve is set at ~2400psi. The DOWN is set at ~500psi.
DOWN does not need much help, as gravity and engine thrust assist in that direction.
500 psi does not present too much of a load on the pump, so DOWN will not sound anywhere near as strained as UP does.
The UP Limit cries out and squeals like it is dieing! This is the sound you are recalling.

OK. Great detailed explanation! Thanks for that. I guess I'll chalk it up as another senior moment!
