is there really no rebuild kit for 3.0 mercruiser fuel pump???

my marine shop says no, but I wonder at times if they just don't want me to buy a $142 part!

If it's a mechanical pump ? <br /><br />They cost $79. at basicpower.com <br />and you will have it in 2 days.

My local rebuild shop will rebuild any fuel pump that is bolted together,if they are riveted they won't mess with it.<br /><br />I imagine if they are riveted together maybe they are not supposed to be rebuilt.<br /><br />I have heard of people drilling out the rivets and doing it though.
