I see OMC catches allot of flack on this site. are they really that bad.. hard to work on...hard to get parts... Should i just sell this think and find me a merc.. I have always wanted a v8 boat.. I've got to get decent tires on trailer first... Already spending money..

the problem is the price of parts, not hard to work on not hard to get, just typically 3 to 10 times the price of Mercruiser equivalents..e.g. $600 for a shift cable..it gets expensive fast when you start finding worn parts.

I have always wanted a v8 boat..

a 185HP 305 is not going to get the adrenaline pumping

That V6 drive is fine on there- the V6 4 barrel was 185HP too
if it is a V6 drive, that's just a decal on the exhaust cover of the drive - could be any upper gear ratio in there. all V6 and V8 800 series lowers were the same ratio
