I'm thinking of buying this boat.<br />its a 1978 cruise craft 16ft v hull<br />It has a 65hp merc on it but it needs a lower unit the engine does run it looks really clean and it includes a newer trailor.<br />It has power tilt and is a bow rider.<br />I like it it's only $950 <br />I want to buy it with my tax refund.<br />Do you think the price is right?<br />how good is the 65hp 4cyl merc? <br />heres a pic

I think that is too much. I'd try to get them down to more like $5-600. I'd say it'd be worth what they were asking if it had the lower end done.

Does the motor run if you buy a lower unit?<br />Have you priced out the lower unit?<br />Have you looked up the Blue book value of the Boat With and without a motor?<br />Have you already talked to the owner and haggled with him/her?<br />I would do as much background work as you can before you put down the cash.

2 summers ago I sold a similar boat but everything worked. With a 50hp eivinrude, camper top, radio.<br /><br />It was turnkey. Went for $1100 of around the same vintage.<br /><br />Too many unkowns with this boat. The boat is actually quite nice. The motor is a right off.<br /><br />Offer him $500, repower with a running motor.

It is at a boat place here in utah I have delt with this guy before and he will usally bargin .<br />I have already found a lower unit I have a 55 johnson if it wont work.<br />I think the thing that makes it worth more is the trailor its almost new.<br />I think I can get it for $700 I'm just waiting for my taxes.<br />The engine has good compresion in all cylders <br />I'm going to test the electrics to make sure they work.

I did more checking I belive the engine is a 1969<br />the boats says cruis boats on the side so I can't find a blue book vaule.<br />but it is in very good shape what do you guys think?
