Is this a problem?

I have a 1969 Johnson 6HP long shaft (6RL69M). I was able to buy a replacement exhaust housing (the fitting that accepts the water tube grommet was broken off by the PO). However, one of the two screws that holds the exhaust plate on is broken. How big a problem is this? Should I be concerned?

What does this little plate do?

The attached jpg shows the piece I am referring to.

Do it right the first time, remove the broken screw and reassemble it correctly.

Thanks for the feedback...

It's a small screw recessed about 2 inches below the top of the housing without much room or screw left to grab. Don't know if I should return to the seller for a refund.

Also, worried that I may break the other screw off and double the trouble...

Heat is your friend when trying to remove frozen screws and bolts. If you don't think it's something you want to do, take it to a machine shop and see what they will charge you and then contact the seller and see if he will help you out on the cost.
