Re: Is this boat a good deal??

The individual boat maker sections don't get a lot of traffic.

Beware of this boat. A rotten floor often means rot in other parts of the boat, as well. The seller says it'll be easy to fix. It won't. Read some of the floor replacement threads in this section of the forum.

And it may not just be the floor. If your transom has rot in it, there's more time and money gone.

The bottom line is that if you want a boat you can use this season, skip this one and find one that's OK. If you don't care about using the boat this year, and you really, really want to take on a big annoying job, then maybe this boat will work for you.

By the time you replace the floor, the carpeting, and take care of everything else you'll need to do, you could have bought a boat without those problems, and probably for less than you'll have in this one.

Do read the threads here.

I just realized that that's an aluminum hull. That's less of a problem with the floor rot. It's still a lot of work, though. The price being asked is about what ones without the rot sell for up here in Minnesota.

You might look around a little longer. Folks sell their bass boats all the time when they need to make the mortgage payments. You might find a better deal.

I agree with the above post. Just be patient and you'll find a nice boat at a nice price.

I had a 1988 Tournament TX 17.

Even after I replaced the floor and the front casting platform it was a lousy boat. I sold it as quickly as I could.

I found the floor replacement in my aluminum boat to be pretty easy. However, that price is way too high for a boat that needs work.

That skeg don't look right. In fact the entire bottom end looks either repainted (badly) or the photo is doctored. And I always love it when the guy selling the thing makes claims about how easy something is to fix. That's just a little too much money to comfortably throw caution to the wind. Next!

Re: Is this boat a good deal??

Ive been looking locally and i havent been able to find much better for $3000. Also, the extra HP has to count for something...that must move pretty well with a 70hp engine.

I know how you feel....everyone telling you it isn't worth it but, not being able to find anything else for less...

I was in the same boat (sorry) awhile back when I posted on here about the '87 Tracker I was looking at. Got the same responses. But, after more searching and not finding that great deal that everyone says is out there , I went and got what I wanted and was on the water...and happy about it.

Some markets just demand higher prices.

Good luck,
Sonny
