This motor will be serviced real soon (was supposed to be today but we've had 12" rain overnight and I'm flooded in). I have noticed this "bit" is rusty and cracked. Can anyone offer advice as to what it is and should it be replaced at the service? The blob of grease was not put there by me, maybe from the previous service from my local Yammie dealer.

its a ptt pump and operates on 12 v 2 ways.

does the trim and tilt work?
if not unplug the trim pump and put 12v on it if it doesn work its toast.
but yours looks in good shape on the outside.
i have seen worse.
if the ptt works your fine.

There is an o-ring sealing the motor to the pump. The crack won't affect sealing. I don't want to say go ahead and use a broken part on a boat motor, but I have a low level of concern with this one. Keep it from corroding more. If your trim fluid gets milky, it may be leaking (the area around it would be oily).

It looks too perfect. I wonder if that was a cut? Can you see the others?

Thanks for feedback. I suspected it was the T&T motor. It works well although I have had trouble with relays in the past. I will coat it with grease and hope it stays in tact.
Agree, it is a very clean split. The other corners are OK. The corrosion of this section is more a worry as it looks like it's coming from inside out.
