Is this Carb float correct for my '68 Chrysler?

Well, I was wondering a few things. I have a 68 Chrysler 55hp and wanted a new carb float for it since it still had the old cork material float that has been prone to getting water logged....I replaced this cork float with a F10346 Float, which is a Mercury Quiksilver float...Ever since I replaced the float and adjusted float height both ways....the boat lacks all the acceleration it had before I replaced it...The carb number is a Tillotson WB5A and couldn't find anywhere on the internet of this float being compatible with this carb. I purchased the float from a marina in northern new york and suspecting the wrong float they gave me??? Does anyone have any idea on the compatibility of this float with this carb? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Ok, so I as I was about to take pictures...as I was inverting the carb I could see the needle not dropping to meet the float tab...so will this sticking needle cause the acceleration problems I've mentioned? Should I take this needle and seat out and spray carb cleaner on it and put back in or should i replace the needle and seat and not worry about it? Any help and I would appreciate it, sorta new to outboards...

Try the cleaner.Once you put gas /oil in it,the needle should drop easily.
Is the seat removable? Some are, some not.
I've found the carbs usually just need cleaning.
Unless they are REALLY dirty and the residue turned to scale.J
