Re: Is this my Fuse/Breaker?

you either have fuses or circuit breakers. You don't need both. On this forum when someone uses the term fuse/breaker it's because we don't know which circuit protector you have so this means "fuse OR breaker". The unit you show is a circuit breaker. A circuit overload causes this device to open (turn off the circuit) automatically. The little white button pops out. After the unit cools you can push the button back in to reset the breaker. However, if the breaker pops, you need to determine why. Fuses on the other hand do the same job, but they are one-time use devices. When they open, they must be replaced.

THanks for the reply, changed the title. I could not located any fuses so I would imagine this is all I have onboard. I am trying to figure out why a few items are not working, such as nav lights, bilge pump, etc... My horn, courtesy lights work, so I imagine there is a break in wire or something like this somewhere.

If you intend to do any electrical work on a boat you need a very basic VOM (volt, ohm, milliammeter) available from Radio Shack or any home improvement store for about $10. Turn on the switch for the device, set your meter to read 12 volts (probably the 20 volt scale) and check for voltage going into the switch, out of the switch, and at the device. Wherever voltage isn't, move upstream.
