I pulled the motor and the old flappers were shot so bad I can not tell how to reinstall them.
Should I pull these out? The old ones had a pin these just have hooks on the side to hold them in.
It's these or nothing. Would you go with none at all?

we don't know either because we don't know what ya got other than a v6 205hp. who's drive. omc, mercruiser, volvo, sharkomatic?
Should I pull these out?
hard to say, the pics are kinda blurry. looks like they are at least still in the exhaust pipe. which is more than can be said for some folks flappers.

if we knew what kinda drive someone might know how them flappers are retained.

i'd go with "these". why is that the only option though. can't you replace them with some new ones now that your to the point where you can feel them?

Those pictures are awful... Put ya in some new flappers or are those the new ones?.. A repair manual will tell ya just exactly how to install em correctly.. Likely under exhaust shutters.... As said above.. At least ya don't have to dig em out of the exhaust.. I don't even know where my missing ones went...

I think you might have the wrong shutters??? If the center pin is flat with a hook, I think that shutter is supposed to be held in by a small rectangular grommet. If you have a round hole in the pipe, I think you need these: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...desc=EXHAUST+SYSTEM+USE+WITH+4"+EXHAUST+ELBOW photo here: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/showSpecialPicture.asp?pn=807166A3 Better check and make sure. It is probably unwise to leave them out.

Sorry Ziggy, mercruiser 4.3 alpha 1 gen 1
These are the new ones.
My friend needs his cherry picker back so I have to get the motort in, pronto.
Can they be replaced if I don't install the elbows or is that going to be to difficult to try to install the elbows of the exhaust with the motor in?
They install at the top of the y pipe.

Can be installed with the engine installed and the manifolds or risers off
