I have an old 75 hp chrystler outboard that I want to throw on my buddies boat for a fishing trip, he has a 1991 grumman with a 9.9 (99) evinrude, 17', Will I be able to hook my motor up to his control cables? the 9.9 will be removed and replaced with the 75? How in depth would this be? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

We have a 14 mile trip by boat to the place we are staying, dont want to do it w/ the 9.9, would take us all day.
I'm not totally sure, but I don't think OMC cables will work on the chrysler. You may be able to buy adapters for it. Heck, if you're just using it to get from point A to point B, just use it manually and put the other motor back on when you get there.

Hi hardkore....

Don't think it will work. Cable ends are all wrong for the applications and the stroke of the cable will probably be wrong also. If your going fishing, make it a good trip and get the right controls for the application. May save you a lot of trouble on the water.
