Hey guys, I'm still pecking away at the troubles that I bought with this boat. Before the trip to the lake this past weekend I replaced the Rectifier/Regulator assembly, all coils and plug wires. Still having some issues at idle though. I want to check the linc and synch but, I have not found an OMC manual that has this particular motor in it yet. The one that I ordered stopped at 1989, did not have 100HP information, and my linkages don't match the pictures in that one. Can anyone tell me what the Max Timing and pick up timing should be? There is no sticker on the powerhead with that info on it.

From a factory service manual: 85 thru 115 hp max timing 28 degrees +- one degree BTDC. Throttle pickup timing is 4 degrees +- one degree BTDC. The max timing is set at full throttle (wide open throttle) running in a test tank with a factory test wheel. You can get an original factory manual from the original publisher: check out this website: outboardbooks.com

The timing on this motor normally needs no adjustments for the life of the motor.-----A compression test is the first step in trouble shooting.

Thank you sir. Done, and now it fires up with a touch of the key and warm up lever. Idles nicely too.

If I were the original owner I could probably live with that. Unfortunately, the PO was not good at mechanics, although he tried ......... Compression across the board at 110 to 115 after decarb, the first thing that was checked. Good enough for now. It was mainly the hull that I was interested in.
