J9 1101

When I got this motor it would run but rough. I took the carb off and cleaned it, checked for good spark and compression.

Now that I have it all back together the motor will only run in the lowest setting after engine is warm and then will die on and off. It will also run WOT. That is it, there is no middle ground. I would like to use this motor for trolling, hard to do at the slowest speed and the WOT is way to fast.

Any advice or experiences please?

Clean the rest of the orifices in the carb.

BTW, just what is a J9 1101??

I believe a J9 is a Clinton 5 hp(some were 3hp) production ran 59-69.
