Just wondering -- If you trimmed the motor in another notch (if there is one), the AV plate might end up horizontal to the water when on plane. Mounted as it is, thinking it may end up trimmed out on plane, kicking up the spray.

The second hole is level with the bottom, one hole down would be negative trim. Already checked. Also the AV plate is 3/8" above the bottom of the hull now. Well going to pick-up a short shaft motor tomorrow so I'll see what happens.

yup. that's what I had in mind -- negative trim while on the hard, but "self correcting" in the water, weighted boat on plane....

but reg. shaft might be better anyway.

edit. btw, bought a Panther t. and t. for up to 35hp for use with my 18 (14' Starcraft) -- more for tilting, but also to experiment with trim angles. Haven't gotten around to installing yet, unfortunately, so can't report. But might consider a similar unit if looking for setback and some trim flexibility. Nice early Christmas present.
