I Have A 2004 1850 Crestliner, And Am Thinking Of Putting A 6 Inch Jackplate On It To Hopefully Improve Performance. I Am Running A 150 Opti-max, With A Laser Ii 21 Pitch Prop. It Is Turning 5150 Rpm Wot. Which Is Also A Bit Short Of The Proper Rpm Range Which Is 5250-5750 Rpm For This Motor.

I Also, Get Blow Out When At Full Trim I Can Run Only 4.5 Inches Of Trim At Wot(per Smart Gauges). I Am Thinking That The Jackplate Will Offer Some Adjustment To Tame The Rooster Tail From Going Straight Into The Air. I Have Been Told That The Crest Of The Rooster Tail Should Not Go Over The Top Of The Motor.

I Have Also Just Ordered A 19 Pitch Tempest Prop To Try And Get My Rpm's In Range.

Does Anybody Know If These Boats Can Handle The Weight Of The Motor After Being Set Back. Will They Crack The Transom Or Will It Cause Any Other Problems.

Any Information Would Be Helpfull.

Re: Jack plate on crestliner?

It depends on how well the boat is balanced...
6" will be the most (if not too much) for that rig.
I've ran 4 plates on my 18ft alum with the XP150 now and the Bob's Machine 4-in-1 set at 2-1/2" set-back has proven best over-all.
19P should be close if you maximize this set-up...ya gotta get that engine up in the high rpm range and then you will see the prop doing a better job of lifting.
The best prop I've ran on that style of boat/engine combo has been a Stiletto, and if you want to get real serious, consider a Turbo1.
They push the Tempest on that rig, but I know it'll do better than the Tempest can provide.
