Ok i have a 1981 60hp 2 cyl that is giving me all sorts of fits. It starts right up with no trouble, but has a hard time staying running, and when put in gear it stalls right away. I cleaned the carbs and I think that I messed up the idle screws because a I forgot to cout the turns out they are supposed to be.:mad-new: Does anyone have a manual that can tell me where to start with them? Also what should the idle rpm be? WOT? Thanks for any help.

Re: Japanese mariner 60 idle

Ok think I got the idle close At about 1 1/2 turns. I did this in a barrel in the yard with motor warmed up and in forward gear. I will take out to the lake and do some more final tuning later. This motor was not original to the boat, previous owner replaced the original 85hp force after out blew up. It's on a 1900 Blufin Spectrum, and has a 12 pitch prop on it. Can somebody give me WOT rpms so I can tell if it's pitched correctly. Am I correct to assume it should be between 4500-5000 rpms at WOT.
