Don't be fooled by these jet boats. If they have the older berkley jet drives, they aren't very fast. I had a 17 foot jet boat with a berkley drive, and a 365hp, olds 455 engine in it. Which was re-manufactured. Could never get it past 42mph. Same goes for all the jet boats i've ridden in. The older berk jet drives are junk.

You had other issues. There are plenty of jet boats out there with "Old berk jets" that are pushing 100 + MPH. Heck, My little Pontiac 400 with the least desirable pump of all, Jacuzzi YJ, does 60 MPH.

Why isn't there a jet forum here? Or even a Hot Boat forum?

Thanks for keeping this thread. Its still a dream to drive a Hot fast Jet Boat after downing a 12 Pack of beer.

So right now I boat quietly in my Bow Rider with my Wife and Kids drinking Bottle Water. Im happy with that.

They come in all different shapes and sizes too. This is , or was, my Starcraft Jet. I'm doing a partial restore on it now. Can still use a bit of info on the Eliminator jet drive. 21' long by 8' wide by 7' high, should make a good fishin boat, If I can afford mufflers or tips for it. Just straight pipe headers on it now. I understand it's been up and down Hell's Canyon several times, and the bottom shows it.

That picture is classic. Sporting a beer shirt with a pull tab soda. Probably dropped the pull tab into the soda can as was the custom back then.

Today, you would be arrested for child endangerment and a host of other charges.

Of COURSE the pull tab went into the can. Otherwise, it would end up in somebody's foot!

Notice my 2-fingered peace sign on the other hand! Man, I was SO cool back then, and didn't even know it. All the chicks dug me.
