I have a project boat I have started working on and I have scrapped the trailer that I was given with the boat. It was complete junk.

Does anyone have experience with using a Jet Ski Trailer to haul a small flat bottom boat? I have found one for a decent price, needs paint, maybe new tires, lights.

Or should I be looking at a trailer for a jon boat?

thanks,

Brian

Trailer should be 110% of the boat length min, should be rated for the full weight of boat, motor, fuel, and gear, and should properly support and secure the boat.

Whether it's called a jetski trailer or not means nothing.

I've seen some that could barely handle a 10' jetski and others that would easily handle your boat.

Smokeonthewater,

trailer measurements- 12'5" from the very rear to the tip of the hitch.
And width between the tires is 4'
Axle capacity is unknown, it is a 1996 Karavan trailer. I would assume at least 700lbs.

the boat length is 11'8" and beam is 55", sounds like it would be close. Boat weight is supposed to be around 250lbs without gear, I am sure it has some water in the foam.

I don't think you would have an issue with weight. The problem is I don't think it is long enough. You may end up with negative tongue weight. You will also need to adjust the bunks if does fit. Personally it sounds too short and narrow for something I would try.

Cutting it awfully close... Do you not plan to have a motor?

Personally I'd want the trailer a foot longer...

Tongue weight (axle position) is often not adjustable on a jetski trailer without welding.

Thanks, I decided to pass. I at least have a better idea of what I need to look for.
