I have a 73 120hp.If i go with a smaller jet would that give a little more power?I have .088 jets in right now.Is it safe to drop to a .074 jet or would i be running to lean>Thanks for any advice

Re: Jetting

NO---NO---No---NO---No--- Smaller Jets, especially that much smaller will definitely detonate and melt pistons. Do not do it.

The ONLY time you re-jet smaller is when you operate at altitudes well above sea level!

Re: Jetting

Last weekend i switched carbs. And the boat took off like a rocket.10 mins later it died.Overheated and had to get towed in.Looked at the jets and they were .074.Today put the original .088 in along with a new impeller.Took a while to get it started but it ran great all afternoon.Got lucky and never melted a piston.
