Jhonson 150 keeps blowing fuse

My 1996 Jhonson 150 Will start but it blows the 20-amp fuse after each start. I pulled the fuse while it is running and one side ckecks 12.75 volts and the other side is ground. It only blows when the motor is running. Have checked all I can think of,what next?

now ya gotta find where the ground is on the other side. when you find it you will quit blowing fuses.<br /> you should not have a ground on the other fuse terminal. thats the whole purpose of the fuse is to protect against unintended grounds. with your ohm meter on the grounded side start unplugging harness main connections. two of the most suspect are the trim wiring and the main ign harness.

Looks like there isn't a quick fix on this problem.Have read lots of questions and answers on this subject in this forum.Lots of wires to trace down.<br /> Thanks

You only have to trace down the the wire that your are getting a ground to. That would be from the fuse back.

The wire is red/purple tracer from fuse holder, goes to ignition switch and T/T switch. Then look at the purple, yellow/red wires. Yellow/red probley ok, or starter would not work.

I think I have traced down my problem. It seems to be the Starter solenoid. I take off the Yellow/red wire and the short is gone, touch the terminal on the solenoid and it is grounded. Could it be this simple.

Boat back up and running. Had several problems,main one was the TACH.<br /> Thanks for all the help.<br /> Hoffscout
