Calling Joe Reeves,<br />Your info on how to start a 59 Johnson fat 50 was right on target. Now another question...Is the 62 Evinrude 75 hp V4 mechanical shift? Would the electric starter fit on a 59 Johnson fat 50 V4? I am going to inherit the Evinrude soon. It's on a boat and I'm thinking about putting the Johnson in its place, since one head on the Evinrude is toast. Hoping I can just repower and hook up the cables and wiring, but we'll see.

Tim..... You can switch/interchange the electric starters. The 1962 75hp Evinrude could be either type shift.... you'll need to eyeball it.

Thanks Joe. Can't wait to get the fat 50 on that boat. I'd like to take it out for a run on the lake after hearing it purr in the barrel. I'll let the board know how it goes.
