In joes post he talks about a plate under the flywheel is that the plate that has the cam on it that advances with the throttle? Question2 when i remove the spark plugs i have 2 it says to hook light to number 1 plug wire what do i need to do with the other one? Question 3 it mentions a spark tester how can i make one it also mentions a 7/16 gap im guessing thats the gap the spark is going to travel is that from the end of the spark plug to something metal on the motor or does this mean something else

#2 good question. I got slammed, not by Joe, when I suggested grounding them. Was told it was better for the pack to leave them detached. Still not sure if I agree with that.
#3 They sell them at autozone for 4 bucks or a couple of wood screws thru at an angle in a piece of plywood, some wire and tape is crude but gets the job done. Yes you will be forcing the spark to jump 7/16 to a ground on the engine.

That's the distance through the air a spark jumps (no spark plug involved). It simulates the plug under load in the combustion chamber.

You can make one with some bent nails and wire.

For a two-cylinder motor:

1) Drive three nails through a board in a line about 1" apart. (Make sure the heads of the nails you use will fit into, and stay put at the end of a plug wire.)
2) Put a right-angle bend in the outer two nails on the back side of the board.
3) Wrap some wire around the head of the center wire. Attach the center wire to the powerhead someplace - an aligator clip comes in handy here.
4) Put the plug wires on the heads of the outer two.
5) Move the right angle piece until it's 7/16" from the center post.
6) Test spark.

It's a simple design and you can make one in the middle of nowhere if you have to. Don't ask me how I know that one.
