I will be having my buddy rebuild my OMC 115 crossflow/turbojet this summer while overseas. I found a rebuild kit RKXF4 for my engine (115TJEDB) on Powerhead Kit - complete rebuild kits for outboard motors and called but they said they don't have the kit because of too many variances. Does that even make sense?! What could they change in the few years they had these engines? Even shows a picture of the kit. Well picture of kit showed 4 pistons/rings, gasket set, t-stat set, vaious bolt kits, a lower crank bearing and thats about it. So I am thinking about buying all these parts seperately. So my question is what is a list of all parts that i should get for a full rebuild? The bores didnt get messed up so maybe thinking about getting just Rings, full gasket kit, Tstat kit. Engine turns over a little tight so wondering if i should get all crank bearings or just the lower crank since that is the one under most of stress after overheat and if that means getting a crank seal kit also? Wristpin and Rod needles too??? Probably buy 2 carb kits to make sure they all cleaned as I will probably premix and get rid of the VRO since i heard good and bad about them and not sure if i want to take chance. Do i just cap/plug the oil side and it works fine?
Sorry for lots of info but only have a few days to get this stuff together and find them all and what i need so a list of what to get would be best so i can box it all up and give it to buddy.
