Well...I"m really starting to dislike my engine. Anyway.. to the point. Went out this morning. Everthing was fine. I was hitting 4.5k through the water as I was heading out. Boat was really moving. If I would of gone faster...I might of bounced some people over the side. he..he..he.. Anyway...got out there. Told me buddys it was sandwich time, I let them rig up and did some trolling. Went for a bit. Everything fine up to that point. Decided to due some bottom fishing. Stopped the boat and anchored.
Here comes the fun part. Decided it was time to call it a day. Fired up the engine. I was having a small problem with it. It came up at 1K. Then after like two seconds...it would fall to 600 rpm. Turned off once or twice. No biggy. Turned it on and gunned it. As I started to rev up...the engine would not go passed 2k
I said...fine. It's done this off and on before(heading out ...the engine looses some rpm. This happened in the past , before I took off the heads).
In the past I would pump the bulb thingy and hit the trottle and it took off again.(hopefully this is a major clue).
Back to my day....Maybe some air in the line. Went for about 2 minutes. Still at 2k. I felted it once trying to engage and rev up , but then it fell back. Just wouldn't do it. I tried priming the bulb. NOthing. One thing about the bulb. I prime it hard. once I gets going..it gets soft again, but the engine doesn't turn off. So it's getting gas. I also opened up the cap on the gas tank to see if maybe there was a suction problem and needed some air. I was trying anything.
Anyone have any idears????
Unknown factors.
I just finished replacing the seats on my t-stats.
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=020890
I was thinking. LOST COMPRESSION??? But how come I hauled Arse out there and all of a sudden it does this? I was going for about 30 minutes at a good click something should of happen there?
Unknown factor two.
I switched from Yamalube to Premium 2-Cycle TWC-3 Engine Oil from West Marine. Could it be the new oil? Since it's ashless...could it of loosen something in the oil line to clog up or restrict the carbs??
Finally...got home cleaned the boat and ran the motor to flush it. AFter it warmed up... I ran a compression check. Cylinders 1-6 all gave me 90psi. The way I did it was.... put the compresion tester in and on "neutral" turned the engine. It was hard to do cause my engine fires up in like a second. No misfires nothing. It purrs and no spuddering or anything like that. That's why I can't see loosing compression as the problem( maybe I'm wrong , hope not)?
I guess the fuel system leading to the engine is my next route?? Anyway tips in where to start? Still new at this and learning.
