JOHNSON 1983 / OUTBOARD / 2 STROKE / 50HP WITH 2 HOURS± AND WINTERIZED THAT YEAR AND PUT AWAY

It started the other day with the first turn of the key. Testing it in fresh water after about 20 minutes into the ride, a siren noise came on out of the throttle box area. What did this mean?? I trailered it immediately. Now I ran the motor at home for a good 20 minutes also a couple of times and had no noise. This motor purrs like a kitten!!

Another quick question...

CRIS CRAFT 'CORSAIR'/ 1966 / 16 FOOTER / HAVE THE ABOVE MOTOR ON IT

How can I get the front of the boat down? The motor is as low as it can go in the angle department and man does the front rise when I go fast.. its almost funny. Now when I bought the boat two weeks ago it had a 90 HP on it so its not the weight. It didn't level off either.

I have been in other boats plenty of times but this is my first to own. I'm learning as much as I can as I go. Its funny, I know more about fishing then boats.

THANKS IN ADVANCE...
SIGNED 'THE EMPTY WALLET'

Welcome to the forum!

The impellar has dried and become hard and brittle with age. No longer pumping water. Or at least not enough to cool engine.

Thermostat could also become stuck closed over time.

Replace impelear first thing you do. second at least check to see if thermostat is opening. Test in water heated to at least 175 degres.

Congrats on your lucky find.

Good luck!
