Johnson 1988 /88 hp.. how are they?

Hello all, i was offered an 1988 88hp johnson and wanted to know if they have a good rep..<br />it needs rings i was told... will it be a pain in the "arse" to do this job? they want 200 for the motor...a friend of a friend,... .. FISH ON!!!

They were very sturdy, well built motors. A real workhorse if they're maintained properly. I have a 1990 88 Spcl and it's been a good one. I don't mind mixing the oil because then I'm sure the motor is getting lubed.

I have a pair of 87 110s - solid - do a compression test before you start ripping it apart.<br /><br />You should get more than $200 for it if you part it out on ebay.
