Johnson 35 HP No Power

I have a Johnson 35hp motor mounted to a patoon boat. The first trip to the lake, the motor started fine but had to run with the choke out to keep the motor running. When I got home I boiled the carb out but did not put a kit in it. The second trip to the lake, the motor started fine and ran great. After about 5 minutes of running 3/4 throttle, it bogged down again. This time I did not have to use the choke, but if I pushed the throttle too far it would cause the motor to bog down more. What does everyone think....ignition problem, fuel problem, head problem. Any help would be appreciated.

So you believe that it is a carb problem and nothing else. Could a power pack be breaking down?
