Kcin,

Got spark?

Check your kill switch lanyard, is it there?

Also, it's not unusual to "pop" the ignition fuse (under engine cowl) when hooking battery cables up.

Kcin,

It depends on how your helm is set up. Is this a console or tiller model.

If it's a console (seperate/remote) steering. The kill switch is either located on the gear shift control box or on the dash. It is a little clip, with lanyard attached, that fits over a button. When removed (fall out of boat) it kills the engine.

ok it does not have one that i can see, and there is no fuse that i can see either, i looked everywhere the only fuses are under the dash, and they are hooked up for the accessories and hydrolic lift system, and i can not see any spark! but i am a few feet away from the plugs, is it also normal for fuel to exhaust like it did all over the floor?

Kcin,

My mistake. Didn't see your engine was a '66'. No kill circuit-SORRY! Probably no fuse either for the ignition.

The only way to tell if you have spark is to check with a saprk tester (cheap at auto parts store) or plug a spark plug into a boot and lean it up against one of the heads.

If you don't have spark. That's a whole a different diagnosis procedure.

Yes, you'll get all kinds of "goo" on the flooor if you are not burning the fuel/oil mix.

Could it be a blown fuse in the engine? I had the same problem. I had the engine rebuilt and when I took my boat to the dock which wasn't even a 1/4th of a mile. I shut down the engine.

Then when I wanted to fire it back up, the fuse blew. So maybe that could be it?

JAZZ ;)
