Hello,
I took the flywheel and armature plate off my motor. I put new condensers,
plug wires and points in (the coils were OK). I reinstalled the armature plate
and it rotates freely. When I put the flywheel back on it seems to be catching
on something on the armature plate. The flywheel and plate rotate together .
I have a repair manual and torqued the flywheel to proper specs. The Woodrufff
key is installed properly. Any ideas?
frizzell@gis.net

Hello Frizzell
When you replaced your plug wires you removed your coils. The coils were not lined up corectly upon reassembly. There are bosses on the armature plate that you need to index your coil laminations to. I use a steel rule as a stright edge to push the coils in line. This needs to be fairly exact. Hope this helps.
