I just bought a 16' bass boat w/ a 1980 70 hp Johnson. It has a pin on the bottom bracket and a single cylinder
mounted on the bracket on the transom. When I have it on the trailer bracket and lower it down at the ramp to run it in the water how do I get the bracket to latch on the pin or do I have to pull the pin out every time and slide it through the bracket
in order to get it to stay latched? When I go to trailer mode do I have to pull the pin and the lift the motor and flip the trailer
latch? Thanks for any help. Dave

No need to remove that pin. There's a lever on (usually) the port side of the engine, under the hood pan and very close to the swivel/transom mount bracket that should have a black plastic knob on it..... raise to release, lower to lock.

Thanks for all the info, Looked at it one more time today and I found that the pivot pin for the hydraulic cylinder was sticking out 1/2
of an inch thus not letting the latch to raise over the pin. I pulled it out, greased it and reinstalled it to the right location, tightened the set screw on the pin's groove and believe it
or not the motor dropped down and latched right on the tilt pin. All fixed.
